Pacific Switch Pro: A More energy Efficient and Practical Bulkhead Upgrade
Hispec has introduced the Pacific Switch Pro, a new circular bulkhead system designed to reduce energy use, simplify maintenance and improve light quality across housing and commercial estates.
With rising energy costs and increasing pressure to meet environmental targets, organisations need lighting solutions that are efficient and built for long life.
The system uses the Hispec SWiTCH Pro modular platform, which supports straightforward installation, upgrades and retrofits into both new and existing bulkheads.
This product has been independently 3rd party tested and the test calculated an average annual running cost saving of 45% when replacing 2D lights with the new bulkhead
Improved Energy Performance
The updated gear tray and LED system provide up to 30% lower wattage for the same lumen output. The product achieves an efficacy of 135 lm/W. These improvements help estate managers and housing providers reduce electricity consumption and lower long-term running costs.
More Even and Effective Lighting
The Pacific Switch Pro includes an internal reflector ring that improves light distribution and removes dark spots that are often found in older bulkhead designs. The fitting delivers clearer, more consistent illumination in stairwells, corridors and external walkways. The bezel design sits flush to the mounting surface, which improves both appearance and light output.
Simpler Installation and Maintenance
Several design updates were introduced in response to feedback from installers:
- A hinged gear tray allows access to components without removing the body. This is useful on ceilings that contain asbestos and in locations where the existing housing cannot be disturbed.
- Plug and play connectors are used for emergency packs, sensors and other modules, reducing wiring time and making replacements faster.
- Torx captive screws on the diffuser provide a stronger anti‑tamper solution and help prevent unauthorised removal of the cover.
- The microwave and corridor sensor can be adjusted from the front, so there is no need to open the fitting once it is mounted.
- The integrated spirit level and supplied Fischer DuoPower fixings help ensure accurate alignment and reliable installation.
- The emergency model includes a front facing test button and raised indicator LED to make routine testing quicker and easier.
Flexible and Suitable for Retrofit
The Switch Pro system is compatible with new Hispec housings and existing Hispec bulkheads, legacy three point fixing plates and a wide range of alternate manufacturer backplates. This allows upgrades to be carried out without removing the original body in many cases. A small number of core SKUs can be used to create more than seventy configurations, including emergency and sensor variants.
