Hispec are proud to have been selected as a supplier to the Fire Rescue Authority framework for smoke alarms and associated products (2025-2029). The FRA framework managed by the WMFRS is designed to meet the needs of UK Fire and Rescue Services for use in residential premises. Through the establishment of this framework agreement all UK FRS’s will have the capability to purchase Hispec products that meet the standards and regulations required for domestic installations.

Chris Loughlin, MD at Hispec, commented ‘I am very pleased that we are going to be supplying and supporting a number of fire rescue services throughout the UK as part of this framework agreement. We have been working extremely hard to ensure that our quality of products and level of service is industry leading. As a leading supplier of domestic fire detection in the UK, the award of this tender provides a brilliant opportunity to add significant value in fire prevention to the communities that these authorities serve day in day out. We look forward to working with the FRS to make communities safer in fire prevention.’

FAQS FOR HOMEOWNERS

Protect Your Home: Common Alarm & Safety FAQs.

To test your smoke alarm, press and hold the test button for approximately 10 seconds. You should hear a loud, continuous sound indicating that the alarm is functioning properly. If your alarms are interconnected, all other connected alarms throughout the property should also sound in response. This confirms that the communication between units is working correctly. It’s recommended to test your alarms regularly to ensure all alarms are fully operational.

A beeping alarm could indicate:

  • Low battery, contamination, or a real hazard.
  • A single beep every minute usually means the battery could be low.

In the event your alarm sounds:

  • Alert everyone in the house.
  • Get out, stay out, and call 999.
  • Do not investigate the fire or delay to collect your belongings.
  • Go to a room with a window.
  • Block smoke with cushions or towels at the door.
  • Open the window and call for help.

Yes, you can request one from your local Fire Authority.
