Hispec is pleased to be part of an exciting new partnership to help promote electrical safety in the home alongside British Gas, the National Fire Chiefs Council and Electrical Safety First.
The multi-organisation partnership offers trusted, practical safety advice to UK households focusing on the message ‘Safer Homes Together’.
The partnership is being launched online with a video that highlights the work of all four organisations, to help people ‘feel safe, informed and protected’.
It features Hispec’s carbon monoxide alarm and British Gas’ Home Electrical service to help households manage electrical repairs.
It also includes advice from Electrical Safety First, a charity which helps raise awareness and promotes good practice, as well as further information from the National Fire Chiefs Council.
Chris Loughlin, Managing Director of Hispec, said the partnership was the first in a series of collaborative home safety campaigns, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with British Gas, Electrical Safety First and National Fire Chiefs Council.
“By working together as a trusted partnership, we are stronger, bringing together each organisation’s experience, technology and capabilities to help people manage electrical safety in the home – which, as the video states, should ‘feel like the safest place in the world’.
“The video marks the first in a series of collaborative home safety campaigns with our strategic partners – together we are helping families take control of their safety.”
The collaboration reinforces Hispec’s commitment to home safety which includes regularly sharing information about fire and carbon monoxide safety from how to prevent chimney fires to fire and carbon monoxide safety in caravans and leisure vehicles.
The ‘Safer Homes Together’ video features members of the Hispec team alongside representatives from British Gas including Commercial Director, Alex Marples; Electrical Services Director, Rachael Graham; and Partnerships Director, Bahader Chera; as well as Steven Devine, Electrical Installation Safety Manager at Electrical Safety First and Chris Kirby, Chair of Prevention at the National Fire Chiefs Council.
Bahader Chera, Partnerships Director at British Gas, explains in the video, “By joining forces with Hispec, the NFCC and Electrical Safety First, we are building a network of trusted organisations that are dedicated to raising awareness, raising standards and sharing best practice.”
The ‘Safer Homes Together’ video provides the following advice from Electrical Safety First:
-Use a competent registered electrician to carry out safety checks on new and existing electrical safety work
-For products and equipment always follow the manufacturer’s safety guidance
-Don’t overload your socket outlets with lots of appliances which can lead to overheating and possibly fire
