  • IBA Buying Group Trade Show 2016

2015 was the first year that Hispec became a preferred supplier to the historic IBA buying group.

Preferred supplier status is something we have worked incredibly hard for and has allowed us to gain increased access to over 75 electrical wholesalers in the last 12 months, culminating in the 2016 March Trade Show & Supplier Awards Dinner at the Forest Pines Hotel in Brigg, Lincolnshire.

The trade show itself was great for us as it gave us the opportunity to not only showcase our full range of products but it also supplied a platform to chat with over 75% of the buying group. We had some great on the day offers that went down very well and two lucky IBA members even walked away with a bottle of whisky and a Hispec jacket as part of our business card draw.

The highlight of the event for us though was the supplier awards dinner later that evening. Presented by ex-professional snooker player John Parrot and IBA CEO Paul Jenner, we were awarded runner up for Best New Supplier 2015, just narrowly missing out to Doncaster Cables. With over 10 new suppliers to choose from we couldn't be more pleased with this result.

We look forward to growing as a business with the IBA Buying Group for many years to come and hope that this is just the start of a fantastic partnership.

15w LED GEAR TRAY - DIMMED DOWN COMFORT LIGHT

Hispec have officially launched the latest addition to the 15w LED gear tray range.

This brand new addition to our range now allows for a corridor function/comfort light on our 15w decorative and bulkhead fittings. The gear tray comes complete with a microwave sensor and a pre-set dimmer with a light output of 20% when in standby mode. When movement is detected, the light will switch to 100% power.

This product is ideal for use in hotels or student accommodation. When residents step out into the corridor during evening hours, rather than being in complete darkness the corridors will be illuminated at a 20% light output.  With this product, our fitting can be on throughout the night and as soon as a resident steps into the detection range of the sensor then the lighting will power up to 100%, therefore saving on energy bills whilst maintaining a comfortable environment for residents.

This product comes with a 5 year guarantee and can act as a master unit with up to 10 slave units under its control.

Also available with a 3 hour emergency back up facility (3 year guarantee for this model).

This addition completes our 15w LED gear tray range as they are available in standard working mode, emergency mode, with microwave sensor and now in a comfort light mode.

  • Bargain Booze Save Money and Cut Emissions...

A Bargain Booze store in Irlam, Manchester has recently made the transition to LED lighting by replacing their original fluorescent modular fittings (using around 1200 watts of electricity) with Hispec branded LED panels (using around 650 watts of electricity).

Bargain Booze, owned by Conviviality Retail Plc, are one of the UK's leading off-licence and convenience store groups with more than 600 stores nationwide.

The Irlam off-licence initially had 16 fluorescent modular fittings throughout and decided that they needed to revamp their lighting by installing several 6ft fluorescent batten fittings with the intention of brightening up the shop floor. However, after several weeks of working in this environment, the staff began to develop headaches as a result of the new lighting and this therefore prompted management to look for an alternative LED solution.

Supplied through Harbord Electrical in Liverpool, the store installed 16 x Hispec LED panels and have in turn managed to reduce glare, improve the spread of light across their product displays, reduce their carbon footprint and slash their energy bills by over 50%.

  • Bellerby's College switches to LED!

Bellerby's College in Oxford have recently opted to cut costs and reduce their carbon footprint by replacing their existing light fittings with energy efficient LED solutions.

Supplied through Key Electrical Wholesale in Witney, three of the colleges' student accommodation buildings have undertaken the transformation by initially installing over 400 Hispec 15w LED fittings. Due to the nature of student accommodation, some of the fittings are switched with PIR sensors which will further control the efficiency and effective use of the lighting.

Throughout the college campus they have installed the LED decorative fittings in stairways, corridors and communal living areas. Some of these fittings come complete with an emergency function which is essential in the event of a loss of electricity to the building. On a purely aesthetic basis alone, the LED replacements, once illuminated, have a far superior look and light output to the 2D fluorescent fittings that were previously installed.

Bellerby's, known for their excellence in higher learning, are on track to reduce their carbon footprint by almost 50% in the next 5 years and stand to cut their electricity bills by around £12,000 a year as a direct result of this project.
